Mission 2026
Dear Veterans, Familes, Friends and our wonderful community members
Many times I am asked what is Honor Flight
and I explain what our mission is and how we go about it and
tell them it’s a trip of a life time. Reflecting on our most recent flight
I think my answer may change.
Honor Flight is that Veteran that admitted to getting scared
when he received his invitation and the fear grew worse the closer
he got to flight day, but faced the fear of seeing his buddies names
on the wall and honoring them. Honor Flight is that guardian that
shared he knew little about his dad's time in service but this flight
brought them closer together.
Honor Flight is about that Veteran that had been to the
wall multiple times before but never walked its path until
he was there with his guardian and finally being able to say goodbye
to his friends he lost so long ago.
Honor Flight is about fighting back the tears as you walk
through that crowd and see your family and complete strangers
welcome you home.
So in the future when I am asked about what Honor Flight is,
I will tell them that it’s a trip of a life time and so much more.
